Close to Home....

I was just reading Roman's Opinion and came across this statement.... " Family, marriage and competitive forces constantly face caterers and create added stress. Caterers are often faced with choices between work and personal aspects of their life. Imagine being faced with the realization that you have a huge event on the same day as your child’s first play at school and you have to choose between the two. You’re going to have stress simply from the guilt you will feel about letting down either your customer or your family, depending on the choice you make. In my own career as a caterer, I missed many family occasions because I always chose the company first over my personal obligations. I was often stressed in anticipation of the guilt I was going to live with because I was a cateraholic." This really hit home for me, especially as I sit here debating whether or not I should go to a football with my husband that he has been planning for 2 years.  He will go no matter

"Dave Ramsey Said"

I have recently been listening to Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University while driving around for the last month.  It has been 13 hours of the very educational listening, including budgets, investing, saving, insurance, everything financial. Today on a business trip I decided to finish up the CDs since I had 3 hours of nothing else, and I have finally taken the "Don't Text and Drive" Pledge (took me long enough...right?). The last CD of the series was Dave's personal testimonial.  It talks about how he got where he is, what made him change his life, and just other things to think about as you move forward in your own journey.  I began listening to how he had everything he had ever wanted in life, but still felt like he was missing something.  For some reason it really hit home and when he started to talk about his journey to find God and church that showed him what he was looking for (and not just get talked at my a pastor) I started thinking about my own pe

Sponsored Review - Glade Expressions

I was recently given free coupons to try out the new Glade Expressions air spray and diffuser, from BzzAgent.  I was given the coupons to try the product at no charge, so that I could give my honest opinion.  I decided to go with the Apple Cinnamon scent and I LOVE them!  I went out and got quite a few more during a sale last week so that I could stock up before the winter season when my windows are closed up and no fresh air can get in without us freezing! The air spray lasts for longer then any other air freshener that I have used in the past.  I also love that the container is plain so I can leave it sit out without being a distraction to my decor. The air diffuser is also wonderful.  I have it placed on a table right inside my entry door so that every time I walk in the door I smell the Apple Cinnamon right away.  It helps to fill living room with the scent, and it is wonderful not having to spray anything, move anything, just have the scent around the room. I suggest you t

Happy October

October, when it finally starts to feel like fall all around us.  It is now time for candles, pie, sweatshirts, and best of all.... CRAZY CAT COSTUMES! My mom stopped by this afternoon, and how could we not take this opportunity to dress up the cats with the costumes that I had laying around,  Needless to say... They were less then thrilled, but still as cute as ever!  (Especially the Roll-Away Pumpkin) It is moments like this that we need to remember the small joys are what make us the happiest, and enjoy every moment for what it is.... a blessing. What have you been blessed with today?
