Shoe Challenge - Day 11

MOVING DAY! My amazing mother has finally taken the next step in her business and purchased her own office building.  I am so proud and excited for her in this next part of her journey! We have spent the last several weeks working on the building; changing lights, cleaning carpet, painting walls, etc... The day is finally here to make the final move and put the offices together.  I decided to wear some comfy tennis shoes to help, and to make sure my toes don't get smashed when I inevitably drop something on them!

Shoe Challenge - Day 10

I saw these in the closet and thought I would give them a chance... The more I wore them, the more I realized why I hadn't worn them in so long... They were uncomfortable, unsteady (one had a broken bottom on the heel), and completely worn out.   Needless to say, at the end of the day these shoes made their way into the garbage can, which is another upside of this "experiment", I get to clean out the closet! Do you ever find shoes like this that you don't understand why you held on to them once you find them in your closet?

Shoe Challenge - Day 9

Today is a day of sitting, sitting, driving, sitting, more driving.... The life of being on the road, but at least I am sitting next to Sean.   I love to be in the car barefo ot so I decided that flip flops would be the best option for today.  Here are flip flops #1.

Shoe Challenge - Day 8

It was still cool enough to pull off wearing boots today, so I did... I was even told that if I added a hat to my ensemble that I could pull off a cowgirl look.  Compliment or not?  I'm still deciding... Anyway, these were a surprise from my mom this year.  She brought them over after she went to return something to the store.  They were only $15.00 and who doesn't need brown boots in their collection?  By the way.... Love JC Penny's NEW Pricing Structure! Have a wonderful day.... and hopefully we can soon get back to open toed, bright colored shoes!

Shoe Challenge - Day 7

Today was a short day at work, and then time for a date so I decided I could wear pretty much any shoe and be comfortable enough for the day.  Since it was still a little cold outside, and I don't want to be wearing boots when it warms up in a few weeks, I decided to wear my gray suede boots, a Christmas gift for Sean. What are you wearing in this in-between weather?

Shoe Challenge - Day 6

So... this is a little late, but I had a hot date today... to go see "Hunger Games"  Just wait until you see the shoes I wore in tonight's post ;) Well... Sunday was pre-moving day for mom's new office, so I wore some comfy tennis shoes.  Nothing special, just some black pumas that I have had for over 6 years, but still wonderfully comfortable... We got a few things moved around, but Thursday is the main moving day... wish us luck!

Shoe Challenge - Day 5

Something totally different for a day like today... flat and comfy.  Every once in a while that is what you need to help the day go by...flat and comfy. I knew I would be standing on my feet, help with loading and unloading the truck, and running around trying to make the day go by so I figured these would be the best choice for the day.   It's amazing how when you start looking through the closet you can find all kinds of things that you forgot about.  I can't wait to start wearing some more fun and crazy shoes! What have you found recently that you forgot you had?

Shoe Challenge - Day 4

Today there was a networking event, and a dinner party to attend.  I decided that it would be best for simple style so I stuck my plain black heels.  They have been with me through snow, sleet, sunshine, and rain.   Every woman should own a pair of shoes like this.  A pair of shoes that will never let her down.  A pair of shoes that can be dressed up, or dressed down.  A pair of shoes that can brighten your mood as soon as you slip them on.   Hopefully every woman can find a man like this too, I know I have!

Shoe Challenge - Day 3

Today was a day of relaxation, running errands, hanging out with my Little (from Big Brothers, Big Sisters), and working on my surveys, blog, and reading list. I followed this theme into my shoe selection... a pair of old faithfuls.  Comfy, simple, and old, but still worth keeping around for days like this. What kinds of things do you hang on to, even when they have seen better days?

Shoe Challenge - Day 2

Yesterday I had to work at a school event, and what better way to pay tribute then to match the school colors.... These are one of my all-time favorite shoes that my mom bought for me a few years back in my Easter basket.  They are a little "loud" but that just makes more people notice them. At the end of the day I had a few blisters on my toes from not wearing them in a while, but it was worth it to get a few compliments throughout the day. What shoes do you love to wear... but can't always find a reason?!

Working Towards My Goals...

At the beginning of the year I created a wonderfully thought out goal list that I was going to tackle for 2012. It included a list of monthly projects: trying a new recipe, baking something new, forming a new habit, as well as choosing at least 1 book from my list of must-reads. Well, now that all is said and done, it is almost the end of March.  I have yet to try out any of the recipes on my list (I did try some new ones that were not on the list).  I haven't done any baking for close to 2 months (unless you count putting the frozen pie in the oven last week).  I have yet to form any new habits (21 days of practice creates a habit... but I can't get past 3 days of something, let alone 3 weeks!).  I have read 2 books from my list, as well as listened to 2 audio books, but I have also read multiple other books that I had never even heard of when I created my list.  Actually, I am almost done with 12 books and I have a new list of must-reads, that is much longer and m

Shoe Challenge - Day 1

We all do things when we are young that are crazy.  Some of us look back and regret the things we did, others learn from their mistakes and embrace them for all they were worth. My favorite "crazy" was my shoe addiction.  I still to this moment LOVE shoes, but I have come to realize that every pair I buy pulls me further from my financial goals.  This has allowed me to put my shopping part of the addiction on hold, but I am still able to enjoy all of the past purchases that I have made.  With my birthday only 6 weeks away I have decided to challenge myself to wear (and enjoy) all of my different shoes in the coming weeks, sharing all of them (good, bad, and ridiculous) with you as I go! Yesterday, March 20th was my first day of the challenge.  I started it off with a purr-fect example of the crazy part of the addiction, a pair of shoes I RARELY wear, but still love to look at!

Dollars and Sense Sundays, 2

I have obviously missed a few weeks, but I am back with another money saving tip! USE CASH! Cash is such a powerful tool, and you don't realize how out of touch you are with your budget, until you actually get cash out of your wallet to spend! I always thought that I had a good handle on my spending, and that using my debit card was just like using cash, until I agreed to only using cash to pay for food, gas, shopping, and any incidentals.  All I can say is...WOW! The first month I realized that I was able to get by with my less when I actually had to spend cash for it.   My lattes in the morning from Starbucks could be used more as a treat then a necessity.... work has really good coffee, for Free. I didn't need ANOTHER black shirt... there are 4 sitting in my closet that look almost identical to this one. Chicken is on sale, for a really good price, but I have more then enough in the freezer for the next 2 months worth of meals. When I have my debit or cr
