Week 1, Day 2 to Organized!

Day 2 was extremely successful!

Not only did I finish up the daily task from Money Saving Mom, but I also was able to cross 5 of my 7 own daily goals off my list, and 2 unplanned weekly goals that I had extra time for!

My refrigerator was a disaster, even though I had cleaned it out last month when I started this project, and gave up after only a few days.  I was able to get rid of old food that was just sitting there instead of making it's way to the garbage can.  I found a few things that needed to be used up before they went past their prime, and I found some beverage mixes that I forgot that I had.

I also took 15 minutes to clean up the kitchen.  I wiped down all of my counter tops, wiped down the front of some of the most used kitchen cabinets (especially the garbage can cupboard), as well as loaded the dishwasher, hand washed a few cups that are not dishwasher safe, as well as organized my half of the "junk pile".  Every one has a junk pile, and the biggest problem with mine is that my husband and I share the same spot, so even when I clean - his stuff sits...when he cleans or puts away his paperwork - my stuff sits.  One day we will be on the same organize/clean schedule, but until then it's just how we live, a house well lived in, not something picture perfect and unwelcoming.

My 7 things to get rid of included 2 old t-shirts that I don't need, as well as some bottles of "almost empty" shower products.  They have been "almost empty" for 2+ months, but I don't use them anymore.  There is really nothing left to squeeze out of them, but I kept pretending there was something left so that I didn't have to get rid of the bottles.  It was a relief this morning to get in the shower and not have bottles everywhere around me!

On my only list of to-do's for the day I included spending time with my "little".  Sean and I took him to play putt-putt, something he has been asking to do for a couple weeks.  It was a great time, and the guy working the counter was really nice, and let us play 2 courses for the price of 1!

I also got to Skype with my best friend, you might remember her from a previous post... Erica's Big Day!  At the end of our conversation when I was signing off I noticed that we were on there for over an hour, it seemed to pass so quickly.  It really is true, "Time Flies When You Are Having Fun".

Sean and I also took time out today for a date, something that we are trying to implement on a weekly basis.  We went to Salsaritas (YUM) and later in the evening we went for ice cream at Timbo's (DOUBLE YUM).  Finding time for just us is important, even after 9 years together and knowing pretty much everything there is to know about each other.

The only things that I did not finish on my daily list were to finish going through survey emails (though I did make a lot of head way and will be able to finish by the end of the week, which is the main goal), and I did not get this blog posted last night, but here it is! So I think I still made some great progress!

How is your week going?!

Learning about Catering, and Myself!

Last week I was in Las Vegas, attending CaterSource Catering Convention. I learned so many things about myself, my work, and the people that I am surrounded by.  Some good and some bad, but all have helped me to realize more of what I want for my life. Over the last year I have realized how important it is to take the time to make these realizations.  I need to know the my strengths so I can keep them going.  I need to know my weaknesses so that I can work them.  I also need to know my goals.  Even if they are ever-changing goals, I still need to know them.  If I am walking through my days just hoping for the best then I never know if I get anywhere. I have realized that as much as I used to love doing surveys that I have now found them to tedious.  I would much rather be part of focus groups and interviews.  Not only do they make more money for my time investment, but they also do not take constant attention, whether it be daily or weekly. Last w...

A Week of Golf

In 2017 my team was tasked with exciting job of catering to the LPGA Marathon Classic for their week long golf tournament here in town.  We had less then 4 months to prepare, and we had never done anything on such a large scale before.  It was both exhilarating and terrifying, especially for an Enneagram 6 like me.  We are loyal and committed, but our biggest needs are security, and we fear not having the support and guidance needed.  What a way to walk into a task like this.   I was suddenly tasked with finding organizations to fill close to 200 shifts for concession stands, as well as around 75 employees to help me make this event a reality.  It took a lot of time, planning, questions, stress, and a roller coaster of emotions, but we did it!  It was amazing the feeling that you have after you accomplish something like that. Since then we have continued to receive this job each July, and each year has gotten a little easier.  We have ha...

Weekly Menu Plan

This week has already been changed around again and again from my husband being in town, to leaving, to coming home early, to leaving again, so the menu plan has been changing, but that is the great thing about having food in the pantry & freezer! Since I didn't get around to making "Cheese" Soup last week, I made it last night.  While it was an interesting batch of ingredients, it turned out to be quite delicious!  I will post my version of the recipe tomorrow! This week we plan to eat at work everyday for lunch, or to finish up leftovers from the fridge, so even less menu planning! For dinners I am making the following: Taco Salads "Cheese" Soup Loaded Nachos Steamed Vegetables and Crescent Rolls (My husband can live on vegetables alone!) This month is busy at work, and I am having company this weekend, and traveling next weekend so I won't be doing any freezer cooking for a little while, but I am hoping to do a few large freezer cooking s...
