Giving Thanks, Day 1

As Thanksgiving draws closer, the spirit of giving is in the air.

As many others are giving thanks for something each day, I have decided to do the same.  While I am VERY thankful for many of the things that I see people starting with (husbands, family, friends, pets, etc.) I am going to mention the things that I often forget about, or take for granted.  As I go through each day I plan to find something that I appreciate that I don't usually notice or give credit to.

So, for Day 1 of November I am thankful for Breakfast at Tiffany's.  As Sean and I walked around Las Vegas today we decided to go into Tiffany's to get some of my jewelry cleaned.  While we were in there Sean asked if they carried a telephone dialer, as he does every single time we go into a Tiffany's store.  To me it never gets old, it makes me laugh, as well as appreciate a Classic.

Later on we went out to the casino and came across a slot machine themed after Breakfast at Tiffany's.  It was wonderful to be able to laugh and quote the movie, as well as gamble (and win) a little in the mean time.  This added so much more to the experience then just sitting a pushing a button trying to win a couple cents.

What are you thankful for today?

A Week of Golf

In 2017 my team was tasked with exciting job of catering to the LPGA Marathon Classic for their week long golf tournament here in town.  We had less then 4 months to prepare, and we had never done anything on such a large scale before.  It was both exhilarating and terrifying, especially for an Enneagram 6 like me.  We are loyal and committed, but our biggest needs are security, and we fear not having the support and guidance needed.  What a way to walk into a task like this.   I was suddenly tasked with finding organizations to fill close to 200 shifts for concession stands, as well as around 75 employees to help me make this event a reality.  It took a lot of time, planning, questions, stress, and a roller coaster of emotions, but we did it!  It was amazing the feeling that you have after you accomplish something like that. Since then we have continued to receive this job each July, and each year has gotten a little easier.  We have ha...

YouData.com

Looking for a quick, easy way to make some extra money?  Check out YouData. It is not a huge money maker, but the pennies add up with time, and it is always nice to see a few extra cents get added into the budget, for something that you normally do on a daily basis...look at ads and watch commercials! Here is a copy of my referral email if you would like to join under my account (which I would be grateful for), or you can always visit the site on your own to sign up! I found something that I think you will like. The company's name is YouData ( youdata.com ). They are trying to convince consumers like us that we should be the ones controlling our own data and selling our own attention, not third parties like broadcasters, newspapers, and spammers. By creating a MeFile at YouData.com, I now control what ads I see and when I see them. Best part - I am selling my attention directly to interested advertisers, for real money. That's right, I get paid fo...

Small Celebrations

Did you celebrate Cinco de Mayo yesterday?  If so, awesome!  We did too!   If not, WHY NOT?!?! I don't drink anymore, but I can still celebrate. We didn't get to go anywhere, but we can still celebrate. Take every chance that you get right now to celebrate.  When life is a little "off" and things aren't as easy as they used to be, then we need to look for joy.  We need to find these reasons to celebrate, and as often as we can. Last night we ate Fajitas - chicken and beef - with guacamole, salsa, and all the toppings.  We drew our best verision of a Mariachi singer, and we sat together as a family.   Nothing over the top, nothing miraculous, but we laughed.  We smiled. We celebrated. What is something that you can celebrate today. The sunshine?  Getting a workout in?  Getting 10 workouts in a row done?  Not yelling at your child?  Even better.... your child doing their homework without you having to yell at...
