Erica's Big Day!

As part of my goals for 2012 I am going to be blogging more about fun, friends, work, love, just life in general.  It will include the good, the bad, and the ugly...because who wants to only hear the sugar coated side of things?  Each day will TRY to have some kind of focus, a person, a recipe, a triumph, or just a random thought.

Today, Friday the 13th, is dedicated to Erica.  Erica is an amazing friend, dedicated co-worker, and a good accountability partner; and today was her BIG DAY.

While we are not quite sure why it was her BIG DAY, we do know that it was... Rich (her boyfriend) told us so!  While Erica had an un-eventful, yet stressful day of work full of random jobs with imaginary deadlines and a ridiculous "theme" to try to work within, it was a long day... which can be interpreted to big?  But, even with all of these things working against her she still had a smile on her face and jokes in her back pocket.

When she left work today she had a list of to-do's in order to organize herself and get ready for the 2012 year, and make it successful and full of goal accomplishing!  Maybe that makes it a Big Day?

While we keep waiting for something to make this an extraordinary day for Erica; Rich is the one skiing, laughing, and having more vacation time... Maybe tomorrow for Erica?

Giving Thanks, Day 13

Today I am thankful for trade shows and all of the fun stuff that vendors hand out to everyone for free! We had a trade show today for 55 companies in the area.  It was amazing all of the things that were handed out; movie passes, note pads, pens, hand sanitizer, etc.  The things that you can always use, but usually don't want to pay for. My favorite is always note pads.  I love all the different shapes and sizes, and it helps to give me the motivation to start new lists and gives me the goal to work all the way through the stack of paper, before getting bored or moving on to a new idea or set of projects. What kinds of things do you like to get for free?!

Learning about Catering, and Myself!

Last week I was in Las Vegas, attending CaterSource Catering Convention. I learned so many things about myself, my work, and the people that I am surrounded by.  Some good and some bad, but all have helped me to realize more of what I want for my life. Over the last year I have realized how important it is to take the time to make these realizations.  I need to know the my strengths so I can keep them going.  I need to know my weaknesses so that I can work them.  I also need to know my goals.  Even if they are ever-changing goals, I still need to know them.  If I am walking through my days just hoping for the best then I never know if I get anywhere. I have realized that as much as I used to love doing surveys that I have now found them to tedious.  I would much rather be part of focus groups and interviews.  Not only do they make more money for my time investment, but they also do not take constant attention, whether it be daily or weekly. 8 Weeks Later....

I just realized that I fell off the face of the blog world 8 weeks ago!   I was finally starting to get back on track with organizing, cleaning, and work when I just forgot how to manage my time! Over the last weeks I have made so many memories, enjoyed so much time with family and friends, and traveled to Denver, Cub Lake, Cedar Point, and back home again!  I have celebrated my 4th Wedding Anniversary to the man of my dreams as well as my grandma's 80th Birthday!  I have welcomed a great nephew (Jerry) , an amazing 2nd cousin (Brock), and a beautiful little friend (Sirena) into the world!  And last, but not least, I have decided that I am perfectly at peace with my life, no matter what comes my way. Now that July is finally behind us and August is starting anew, so are my new hopes, dreams, and goals!  I will share them as they become closer to reality, and I have a plan of action on how to handle everything. For this month I am hoping to stop in at leas...
