Dollars and Sense Sunday, 4

Now that I am back on the money saving train, and focusing on my long term goals and plans I am here to share one more tidbit that I find helpful.

Don't always believe that "One Day Sales" won't be there tomorrow.  Whether they are in the same location or not is one thing, but to think that if you don't buy today you will never have another chance, is just a way to make money off of you.

For today only.... we will offer you this $2,500.00 bedroom set for $999.00...
Remember to ask yourself, how much is it at another store? How much do I really need it in the first place?  Am I absolutely in love with this model?  Do I then get the floor model with all of the scratches and other people jumping around on it?

Usually if you have a sales person trying to pressure you in to a sale it is because they know that once you walk out the door and do your research that you will find something better, or less expensive, or both.  They need to make sure that you don't have a chance to see the whole picture before they are able to make their sale.

Also, these places usually have an "All Sales are Final" policy... If they believed in their prices and product why would they need to do this?

At the end of the day I know that emotions can let you get carried away and make purchases that are not always in your best interest, but if you go in with these thoughts in mind hopefully you won't make as many spending mistakes in the future!

A Week of Golf

In 2017 my team was tasked with exciting job of catering to the LPGA Marathon Classic for their week long golf tournament here in town.  We had less then 4 months to prepare, and we had never done anything on such a large scale before.  It was both exhilarating and terrifying, especially for an Enneagram 6 like me.  We are loyal and committed, but our biggest needs are security, and we fear not having the support and guidance needed.  What a way to walk into a task like this.   I was suddenly tasked with finding organizations to fill close to 200 shifts for concession stands, as well as around 75 employees to help me make this event a reality.  It took a lot of time, planning, questions, stress, and a roller coaster of emotions, but we did it!  It was amazing the feeling that you have after you accomplish something like that. Since then we have continued to receive this job each July, and each year has gotten a little easier.  We have ha...

YouData.com

Looking for a quick, easy way to make some extra money?  Check out YouData. It is not a huge money maker, but the pennies add up with time, and it is always nice to see a few extra cents get added into the budget, for something that you normally do on a daily basis...look at ads and watch commercials! Here is a copy of my referral email if you would like to join under my account (which I would be grateful for), or you can always visit the site on your own to sign up! I found something that I think you will like. The company's name is YouData ( youdata.com ). They are trying to convince consumers like us that we should be the ones controlling our own data and selling our own attention, not third parties like broadcasters, newspapers, and spammers. By creating a MeFile at YouData.com, I now control what ads I see and when I see them. Best part - I am selling my attention directly to interested advertisers, for real money. That's right, I get paid fo...

Small Celebrations

Did you celebrate Cinco de Mayo yesterday?  If so, awesome!  We did too!   If not, WHY NOT?!?! I don't drink anymore, but I can still celebrate. We didn't get to go anywhere, but we can still celebrate. Take every chance that you get right now to celebrate.  When life is a little "off" and things aren't as easy as they used to be, then we need to look for joy.  We need to find these reasons to celebrate, and as often as we can. Last night we ate Fajitas - chicken and beef - with guacamole, salsa, and all the toppings.  We drew our best verision of a Mariachi singer, and we sat together as a family.   Nothing over the top, nothing miraculous, but we laughed.  We smiled. We celebrated. What is something that you can celebrate today. The sunshine?  Getting a workout in?  Getting 10 workouts in a row done?  Not yelling at your child?  Even better.... your child doing their homework without you having to yell at...
